Quand je suis arrivée à Gardur en Islande, j'ai longé la mer jusqu'au cimetière. Derrière l'église Útskála, une butte recouverte d'herbe a attirée mon attention. J'étais très émue et une voix intérieure me disait que mon ma création allait parler de cet endroit précis. Il n'y avait rien de précis, pas de stèle. Le lendemain, j'y suis retournée avec Rape, un habitant de Gardur. Il m'a expliqué que ce lieu avait une histoire touchante et tragique.
En 1685, quatre-vingt-dix-neuf marins ont péris en mer. Quarante-deux n'ont pu être identifier car ils étaient étrangers et ont été entérrés derrière l'église dans une fosse commune. Les tempêtes se sont multipliées et de nombreux pêcheurs étrangers furent enterrés dans cette fosse commune.
L'installation, unknown sailors leur rend hommage.

When I got here I walked along the sea and I went to the cemetery. At the back of the Útskála church I was impressed by a place without understand why. There was no stele, nothing particular. The next day I went back and Gardur’s unhabitant - his name is Rape, said me that this place has a tragic and touching story.
In 1685 ninty nine fishermen drowned in a hurricane. Fourty two men were foreigners and cannot be identified. They were burried here in a mass grave behind the church. Unfortunatly, This kind of disaster was repeated many times and later many fishermen were burried here.
